Maria Kingshott (Dip.Couns)
I trained to be a counsellor at The Link Centre, a Training Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy in East Sussex and qualified in 2019 with a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling (Transactional Analysis).
Whilst training I gained experience working for the NHS in a GP Surgery and, post qualification, continued to do so as well as developing my Private Practice.
At the beginning of the Pandemic, when face to face counselling was put on hold, I undertook some additional specialist training to move my work online and via telephone. I am now looking forward to working face to face once more.
Transactional Analysis is a therapeutic model for positive change and growth. During our time together, I will help you focus on what you would like to gain from counselling and work with you to explore any unhelpful patterns of behaviour that are keeping you stuck and no longer serving you.
Who is Counselling for?
I think there is a general misconception that you must be dealing with a big life issue to seek help from a counsellor, when in fact counselling is helpful in all sorts of situations:
- Perhaps you are lacking in Confidence
- Maybe your self-esteem is at a low ebb
- Maybe you are feeling anxious and stressed and your usual ways of coping are no longer working for you
- Perhaps you find it difficult to say “no” and find yourself feeling resentful and exhausted.
- It could be that you are finding it difficult to adapt to change
- Or maybe you believe you must be strong, and that seeking help is a sign of weakness
I will help you focus on what you would like to gain from counselling and work with you in a gentle and empathic way to explore any unhelpful patterns of behaviour that are keeping you stuck and no longer serving you.
As we work together and you start to make sense of your thoughts and feelings, your sense of overwhelm is likely to lessen, making it easier for you to move forward in a way that feels right for you.
